I forgot some of the other words, like other greetings, good byes and others. People say Dutch is a harsh language and some of it is but some of it is cheerful.
Hoi, hallo, dag - Hi, Hello, Hi(roughly)
Dag - again also as a bye
Tot later - see you later
Tot ziens - good bye
Handschoen - gloves (literally, hand shoes)
rok - skirt (apparently in the spring there is a day called skirt day when all women wear skirts)
viss - fish
visser - fisherman
boer - farmer
The numbers of 20-90 are roughly the same as the 1-9 except for a couple of exceptions and you add tig at the end
100 - hondred
1000 - duizand
but to make 62 it is said and written as twee en zestig
Koning - King
Premier - Prime Minister
student - student
leraar - teacher
Ik ben - I am
Ik ben niet - I am not
So I can tell everyone....
Ik ben niet koning - I am not king and change the last word to many things
tourist - tourist
veel success - good luck
Ik verveel me - I am bored
kanker - cancer (it seems that they use this with other words to insult and curse people)
bibliotheek - library
So anyway another list of words as I am preparing to leave. Next update will be plane flight.
Yay
