I must have walked 20 miles this morning so far. I went to waterloopplein market hoping to buy stuff there. It was not open. Just kept my feet moving til I saw something that looked like temporary roofs and headed that way. I found success. It was the new market, flea market. They were just opening/setting up. Found a t-shirt for someone that asked for one and a hat and sunglasses for myself. I will head back later with mom.
The bums....
There are really not too many bums. However, I ran across 2 this morning. The first was a guy with a bike. He told me all numbers run down to city center. So, the lower the street number the closer you are to the centre. The higher the number the further away you are. In theory you should not get lost. Just work the numbers till you get somewhere familiar. I gave him some change.
2nd one I spoke with was a lady. She was on obviously saying something in Dutch and I have my reponse if I do not understand, "ik spreek geen Nederlands." She motioned to her mouth several times with her hand and said something similar to hungry, food ..? Then put her hand out. I gave some change and she walked away. I think that was what she was asking.
